Day 7: Julie and Julia

I recently watched the movie Julie and Julia. When the movie that I was previously watching ended, I didn’t change the channel. I think I was too busy writing a blog post. I’m thankful for the distraction.

The movie caught my eye when the lead character Julie Powell, a former writer, decided to create a blog. She seemed to be a little bit jealous that her friend, who wasn’t a writer, was getting a lot of attention as a blogger. Julie decided to write about cooking, because it was a hobby she loved. It allowed her to escape from her job, where she seemed to take a lot of angry and rude phone calls.

Now at this point I was completely tuned it. I was still reeling from my own bad experience at work with a very angry person. I could relate to her frustration.

Julie created a food blog that was based on cooking 524 of Chef Julia Child’s recipes in 365 days. The blog quickly took off, and that’s when her life really started to change for the better. Although there were a few bumps along the way.

The movie also told the story of Chef Julia Child’s rise to fame in alternating scenes. A famous chef who first learned how to cook in her 30’s. Isn’t that inspiring?

I really enjoyed the movie! The tale of two successful women, who had a lot of odds against them. Two women in their 30’s who turned their lives around. As a late twenty-something, I can really appreciate that!

Was anyone else inspired by this movie? If so leave a comment below!

Thanks for stopping by!
